Fox’s Bret Baier: The “Dapper Rapper”

Get ready to knock your opinion of Fox News anchor Bret Baier up a few pegs. Perhaps a bunch.

Now we already know the guy’s been quietly racking up huge ratings wins on his weeknight show, Special Report, success that recently earned Baier a brand new contract at Fox. But here’s what we didn’t know: the kid can rap. No wonder they’re calling the pocket-square-wearing anchor the “Dapper Rapper.”

Yup. At the Bob Hope Classic in Palm Springs on Friday, Baier ended up onstage, and explained to the crowd (a few equipped with video cameras) that he was invited to perform. Saying he didn’t know anything but Sugarhill Gang’s 1979 hit “Rapper’s Delight,” he got an unexpected response: Do it.

And he did. And while we had the headline BAIER DESTROYS REPUTATION WITH CRINGETASTIC RAP PERFORMANCE headline ready to go, we must admit he nailed it. Watch it for yourself and see if you don’t agree:

We should not that at the end of the performance Baier did advise the crowd not to tell anyone what they’d just witnessed. So, you know, this has to stay between us, okay? Mum’s the word.
