Jon Stewart Mocks Punditry Surrounding Wisconsin Recall

On Tuesday night, Jon Stewart shone the light on the coverage leading up the Wisconsin recall election. Taking a look at the finger pointing on both sides, Stewart investigated what the election is really about: democracy.

After a “Madison Men” intro (a la Mad Men, of course), Stewart reluctantly took a look at “what’s at stake,” as per our newsers. After a quick montage, we turned to Fox & Friends, where Gretchen Carlson interviewed a woman who compared a Scott Walker loss to…Communist China.

Sure, Stewart said. We’ll be forced to join unions, “like in China.” But the issue is a bigger one, he said: democracy itself. Wyatt Cenac investigated, slightly baffled. You can’t just recall every dumb person elected for, well, being dumb, he argued.

The only thing both sides agreed on? This is democracy. Unless the actions are from someone on the opposing side, of course.
