Lonely Island And Michael Bolton Create 80s Pirate Magic At The Emmys

Andy Samberg‘s comedy group, The Lonely Island, teamed up with Michael Bolton to recreate their popular SNL digital short and thoroughly confuse Bolton fans the world over. They were joined by a troupe of dancers, various funny actors — such as Maya Rudolph channeling Lady Gaga, the 80s and what may very well have been a merkin haphazardly glued onto Bolton’s face.

Better listen to this now so you now what everyone is rambling on about at the office tomorrow:

This show was a real bust. It’s kinda sad when hollywood tries so hard but they just can’t pull it off.

This was a pitiful show.  The irony is that these folks Are Hollywood.  The only award shows that are consistantly top notch productions are the Grammys.  I think it is because the musicians are truly talented.  The actors are propped up and exposed when on these shows.

I turned it off after the first break, but I had planned to do that already. The only thing I want to see live during these award shows is the opening number and/or monologue.

That opening number was really uncomfortable to watch. It was like the producers threw up their arms and said, “That’s it, we give up. This year’s going to suck. Just go with us here and pretend it’s entertaining.” And the fact that the opening number was originally written for Alec Baldwin (which makes a lot of sense once you think about it) just goes to show you that the writers weren’t able to write for Lynch, so she was forced to do a job she was clearly uncomfortable with.

I actually feel really bad for Lynch. She’s a talented actress and improviser, but she’s not a stand-up comedian or talk show host. She doesn’t know how to work a room the way Fallon and Kimmel can.

A lot of hype, flash, and so little talent.  It was a “three way” loser!
