Man Nancy Mace Berated in Viral Video Tells CNN She’s ‘Playing the Victim Card’

A South Carolina man who got into a heated exchange with Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) accused the lawmaker of playing the “victim card” after she claimed she felt “threatened” and “harassed.”

“Some unhinged lunatic, a man, wearing daisy dukes, at a makeup store, got in my face today. Dems are nuts. So I went off – and I won’t be backing down,” Mace posted to X when sharing her perspective of the confrontation.

Her office also knocked the man identified as Ely Murray-Quick for his shorts.

“Never thought we’d need to say this, but if you harass a congresswoman in public while wearing Daisy Dukes, maybe you’re the problem. The congresswoman has every right to stand up for herself when she’s being harassed. She will never apologize for standing her ground and standing up for women everywhere,” Mace’s office told CNN in a statement.

Mace also got into a heated exchange with an activist on Monday night, another incident she’s taken to X to post about.

Murray-Quick joined CNN’s Laura Coates on Monday, saying said he only wanted an answer to his question and denied threatening the congresswoman.

In the video, Murray-Quick confronts Mace at a store and asks her when she’ll be holding a “real town hall.” The confrontation quickly escalated to both exchanging vulgar insults.

“You people are the left are crazy. You’re absolutely fucking crazy,” Mace tells Murray-Quick and he, in turn, calls her “insane” and promises she’ll be voted out of office quickly.

“My intention was to get an answer to the question that I asked. I feel like it was a simple question, and I’m not the only person who has the question. A lot of south Carolina citizens are wondering the same thing,” Murray-Quick said.

Mace told Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Monday that she felt “threatened” and “harassed” in the moment.

“I asked a simple question. Nancy Mace was not held in this aisle. She had a clear out of this aisle. I was at least eight feet away from her at all times. There was no aggression. There was no harassment. Nancy Mace likes to play the victim card, but that’s not what happened here. I asked a simple question. As a resident of the state of South Carolina and she couldn’t she couldn’t answer it. She couldn’t meet the demand of the people,” Murray-Quick shot back.

He also took issue with Mace at one point touting her past support for gay marriage.

“Nancy Mace sees people in a single layer. She sees me and she sees the people of my community,” he said. “One way she feels that we owe her something because she voted yay for gay marriage. We don’t owe her anything.”
