McCain: Let’s Cut Back On “Jumping Up And Down” At State Of Union

Video

Senator John McCain appeared on Face the Nation and told Bob Schieffer he’s pleased with the new civil tone in Washington and happy to sit next to Democrats at the State of the Union address. Yet McCain not only wants to sit away from his friends, but also wants everyone to stop cheerleading so the President won’t be distracted. Where’s the fun in that?

McCain suggested:

“Might be nice, maybe we cut back a little bit on all the jumping up and down, which I think frankly distracts from any president’s speech when it’s interrupted every 30 seconds by people jumping up and down, because the President isn’t speaking to Congress, he’s speaking to the American people.”

When Schieffer put forth the idea floated by some that the plan of Democrats and Republicans sitting together is really just a trap by President Obama to silence Republicans from making too much noise together, McCain readily dismissed it. Instead, he once again praised Obama for leading the way in changing the atmosphere in Washington and for his memorial speech in Arizona which McCain was still admiring.

Once you jump up, doesn’t the rest take care of itself?

  • The Lantern of Truth

KING , sitting on the davenport in the parlor , feet up on the ottoman , on his fifth Lucky Strike . I always jump up during Obama ‘ s speeches , at least until ten minutes in , when it ‘ s naptime .

Don’t worry – no one’s gonna be watching the SOTU so the optics won’t matter to the avg. human being.

  • Probably NOT wrong

    Yup !

I suspected as much. Someone should come up with an explanation for it.

This is the kind of story that makes you cynical about politics. During the slow-grinding Bush years, you had the feeling he did not know whether or not Rome was burning. Obama knows it’s burning, and is lying to us about it.

    John McCain said:
I’ll serve your ass like John McEnroe
If your girl steps up, I’m smacking the hoe
Word to your moms, I came to drop bombs
I got more rhymes than the Bible’s got Psalms
And just like the Prodigal Son I’ve returned
Anyone stepping to me you’ll get burned
Cause I got lyrics, but you ain’t got none

Oh please. You know there’s a clowncar full of TeaBaggers practicing their “YOU LIE!!” in the mirror this morning.

It is absolutely amazing that the Republicans nominated this screwball lefty as its presidential candidate. Hopefully next time the party will actually nominate a real Republican to run against Barry. This guy is truly disgusting.

With all due respect, Senator Juan McCain – YOUR going along with the “Let’s all sit is a circle, hold hands, and sing Kumbaya” suggestions for the SOTU address (or is that Re-election Campaign Kickoff speech?) is EXACTLY the type of LACK of CONVICTION (read: squishy moderate) attitude that made me REFUSE to vote for you in 2008.

Let’s face it, had YOU been elected President, the Country would NOT have seen the EXTREME DAMAGE The Left has done (and wants to continue to do) to the country. YOU would have been: Obama Lite. Honestly, WHAT policies has Obama and the Pelosi/Reid Congress enacted that YOU would not have gone along with (or that Pelosi/Reid would not have been able to override your veto)?

NOW, the Country has “seen the light”, and given the GOP “one more chance” to make GOOD on its promise to Reduce the size of Government, Reduce Spending, etc.

Do you not see, Senator McCain, that this assertion that we need to “tone down the ‘toxic’ rhetoric’ is NOTHING MORE than an attempt to SILENCE the opposition to Democrat talking points? AND will be used as JUSTIFICATION to, once again, attempt to shove The “Fairness” Doctrine down the throats of Conservative Talk Radio (the ONLY thing [save Fox] which has been able to COUNTER the endless Liberal mantra chanting of almost EVERY other Broadcast and Print media in existence)?

IF, as we all KNOW, Jared Loughner’s actions WERE NOT motivated by “The Right” or “Toxic Rhetoric”, then WHY, pray tell, are we supposed to CHANGE our “tone”? WHY is EVERY possible word or symbol that could even vaguely be construed as being related to violence (in ANY form) is NOW to be “politically incorrect”? In TWO WORDS, Senator, That’s “BULL SHIT!”

There were books and even a MOVIE depicting the assasination President George W. Bush, and “The Left” applauded. NOW those SAME hypocrites are telling US that WE need to “tone down OUR rhetoric”? NO THANK YOU! I believe the 1st Amendment protects POLITICAL SPEECH above ALL ELSE, and I’ll be DAMNED if I’m going to sit back and let the party to which the American People unanimously said, “NO MAS”, tell ME what’s OKAY and what’s NO OKAY to say (especially with regards to Political Speech) – you’re CRAZY!

So, Senator McCain, YOU can go spend the rest of YOUR Politically Correct career over with the Democrats, if you want to, but don’t expect anyone but Liberals to give you a pat on the back (but then, THOSE are the people from whom you have always sought acceptance, anyway, isn’t it?)!

Damn! Thought we got the new and improved and more conservative John McCain in the last election. Looks like we get more of the same…ya fooled us again John. Crap. Way to show the passion, way to bring the fight to the socialist losers…way to champion the message we gave ya. Crap.

Roger that Laker. Not surprised he feels comfortable sitting with the liberal/progressives since he is one himself, Americans were asleep at the switch last primary presidential election couldn’t separate the wheat from the chaff or better yet the sheep from the goats!

Many Americans bought into the media hype and spin that created the myth of Obama the Messiah the “ONE,” many strapped with white guilt got caught up in the historical context of feeling better about themselves (unfounded white guilt) and voting for a half black half white candidate only to discover they completely missed the warning signs about his socialist/Marxist immersion since childhood, those that heard his message either didn’t understand what he was saying or didn’t believe him when he talked about “fundamentally transforming America” the part about from what to what was obscured by the willing cheerleaders in the so-called watchdog media, who I just felt a tangle up my leg!

Getting back to McCain I supported Arizona’s attempt to restore law and order in their state up until the time they renominated McCain but in all honesty the alternative wasn’t much better but as the tea party grows and more Americans are educated about our Constitution and founding principles we will have better candidates in the primaries, this last election is only the beginning of restoring our Constitutional Republic’s limited government philosophy, a large centralized government creates dependency and more problems than it solves.

“I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them. My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government. To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.”

“And I sincerely believe, with you, that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies; and that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale.” – Thomas Jefferson Letter to John Taylor, May 28, 1816

Are you suggesting that you shouldn’t watch the STOU because you disagree with the President? Or are you suggesting that everyone would just be too busy jacking off?

You did NOT vote for McCain and NOW you want to bash him and talk about EXTREME DAMAGE the left has done????? Sit down and shut your ignorant pie hole. If you don’t see the irony then I have some beach front property in Kansas I’ll sell you really cheap doofus.

Cool, I might actually watch it now instead of waiting for a youtube video that cuts out all the clapping anyway.

For those of us who didn’t vote for Obimbo because, we suffer from “White guilt”, but, didn’t vote for him because of his socialist platform and lack of leadership experience, I thank you!! He’s been in office over two years and the same criteria applies now.

  • Nacho

Matt Schneider seems to have missed part 2:25 of the video clip where Bob Schieffer asks about McCain’s WaPo Op-ed piece. One could make the argument that McCain was addressing Palin’s “Anti-American” remarks about Obama:
    http://www.mediaite.com/online/sarah-palin-has-harsh-words-for-mccain-says-obama-is-hell-bent-on-weakening-america/
although he says he was addressing the American people.

You are right we should open the “closet of victims” and let Sarah out, for we need her vast leadership experience and her platform of going back to the 1950′s, with her fake christian message! You go girl, save this country, don’t forget to scare grandma, they are coming to get you!

Let’s face it, McCain is a caricature of the American Politician; a metaphor, not really there, only can be seen when smoke is blown in its general direction providing the viewer with a foggy image. As is the case with wind, McCain’s positions change on a dime, fearing not for a moment the contrary evidence of film or print. When Mr. McCain speaks I assume words come out of his mouth, but w/o any “currency” to support his sounds, I hear only the garbled syllables of an unintelligible string of noise. He should try to fade off into obscurity to avoid further embarrassment. His presence in the Senate is an affront to honesty and character.

  • Horizon3

First as a resident of Arizona I would like to apologize for the idiots that put RINO McCain back in office, trust me it won’t happen again. We have flipped the GOP in Arizona this year and have some true patriots in the party hierarchy now, not establishment GOP progressives. It’s really too bad our state does not have a method to recall a US Senator, but we are working on that too.

The real reason for all this huff about mixed seating is nothing but a distraction from the antics in Congress and by the Obama Admin. While we are slurping up the media hype, Patriot Act is due for renewal, Budget still is not done, and the admin is running amok with stupid and in many cases outright treasonous regulations and Obamacare repeal is going into the Senate. And what is Congress doing? Quibbling about who they have to sit with in the SOTU.

The SOTU itself is going to be nothing but electioneering by Obama, it will be all about him and very little if any about the Union, it even has a theme name now (Ala Tucson Memorial) “Winning The Future”. I wonder if there will be T-Shirts for the Attendees?

McCain lost the election for the republicans but throttling back Sarah Palin when she could have boosted places such as Michigan. Whoever McCain’s handlers were, they muffed the ball. McCain doesn’t have what it takes to be president. We lost a strategic chance in the last presidential; election and now the whole country is on the skids.
