Monday Cable Ratings: CNN in 3rd Place with New Primetime Lineup

On Monday night, CNN instituted some changes to its primetime lineup, notably the removal of live programming from the 9 p.m. hour. Where it had previously been rotating live hours of CNN Tonight and Smerconish following Piers Morgan’s departure, CNN instead aired a rerun of Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown. The network ended the night in third place in both the 25-54 demo and total viewers, behind Fox News and MSNBC.

Fox was #1 in primetime, averaging 282K in the demo and 1.730M total viewers, while MSNBC came in second with 154K in the demo and 631K total. CNN was third with 112K in the demo and 287K total viewers. All three primetime hours had less than 120K viewers in the demo and only Don Lemon at 10 p.m. broke the 300K mark in total viewers with 304K.
