Oscars Snubbed Joan Rivers from Its ‘In Memoriam’ Segment

The “In Memoriam” segment of tonight’s 87th Academy Awards mysteriously omitted one big name from its tribute: Joan Rivers.

The so-called “Queen of the Red Carpet” had become synonymous with pre-show Oscars coverage before her untimely death last September. Some might suggest her career was largely TV-based, and hence not considered for a film-based memoriam, but she played roles in Spaceballs, Shrek 2, Rabbit Test (which she wrote and directed), among others.

Social media quickly noticed her absence from the segment and expressed outrage.
