Rachel Maddow Apologizes for Offending Her Viewers’ Sensibilities

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow took the time last night to apologize to her viewers for offending them; not over anything political or factual, but over their decorative sensibilities.

Breaking out her branded “Department of Corrections” segment on Thursday, Maddow noted that she made a mistake during the previous evening’s segment that painted Republican Iowa Senate candidate Joni Ernst as a trigger-happy gun fanatic.

However, conservatives shouldn’t get their hopes up because, as Maddow said, the correction had nothing to do with Ernst herself. It was about these canisters Maddow labeled as “hideous”:

Maddow’s team found them in the NBC prop closet and noticed they were the same exact folksy items Sharron Angle used in a 2011 “comeback” commercial. After Maddow disparaged the mushroom-printed canisters as “hideous,” her viewers took to Twitter, allegedly for 24 hours, correcting the host with “full-blown mushroom canister love and appreciation.”

“Thank you for fact-checking me on this,” Maddow told her audience. “I sincerely regret what I now believe is an error. I love your mushroom canisters and your kitchen. I love all of it. Sorry.”

Happy Friday?
