Report: Matt Cherniss, Fox Programming Exec, To Leave Network

 

Matt Cherniss, Fox’s executive vice president of programming, is reportedly leaving Fox, according to Broadcasting & Cable.

Cherniss was appointed Fox’s number two programming chief in 2008 and is credited with overseeing the development of key programs including Glee. According to a report first published on Deadline Hollywood, Cherniss is in talks with Warner Bros.

According to a Variety report Friday morning:

Cherniss was said to also be in high demand from other quarters, including cable nets. He’s had a hand in development of “Glee” and frosh laffer “Raising Hope.”

According to insiders at Fox, Cherniss’ position will likely not be filled, at least for now.

Before taking on the programming job at Fox, Cherniss was senior vice president of original programming at FX, where he played a key role in the development of hits including Damages and Sons of Anarchy.

Fox had no comment on the reports.
