Rick Santorum Says That He Is Praying For Herman Cain

On Andrea Mitchell Reports Thursday afternoon, Andrea Mitchell asked socially conservative presidential candidate Rick Santorum if he thought embattled former frontrunner Herman Cain could “stick it out” and remain in the race. Santorum replied that it was Cain’s decision, but that he would pray for Cain and his family.

You know, that’s a decision for Herman Cain,” Santorum told Mitchell. “My policy with respect to the candidates is we pray for them. And he’s going through a very difficult time and we pray for him and his family as we do with all candidates in the race. As we do for the president.”

Santorum added, “I just have to stay focused. It’s a distraction for him, obviously. It’s not a distraction for me.”

The former Pennsylvania Senator is something of a Voldemort figure to liberals, mainly for his crassly-expressed social conservative views, but Santorum’s views line up well with the Republican base, and he has performed well in debates. Cain’s support, however, appears to be headed Newt Gingrich’s way, despite Gingrich’s two (known) affairs and three marriages. To Santorum’s credit, he didn’t take the bait elsewhere in the interview, when Mitchell asked him about social conservatives’ concerns about Gingrich.

Here’s the Cain clip, from MSNBC: (view the entire interview here)

So?Did this piece have some kind of worthwhile point?

It kind of made Santorum look like a decent guy,and it really didn’t do Cain any damage…

Tommy do you do some kind of search for terms like Santorum and Cain and then type out something no matter what comes up?Or do you have a clause in your contract that requires a certain amount or work per day?

Cause this was a waste of time.

Why is he praying for Cain? Cain is getting more than he is.

“Tommy do you do some kind of search for terms like Santorum…”

I just hope Tommy doesn’t search for Santorum when children are present.

Worse than a waste of time; it gave some fundy moron a platform to calling himself a pious person, when he’s in fact a complete panderer and a religiotic fruit bar. Sanctimonious, oblivious, inhumane, hypocrite, creepy – Santorum is all those and less.

  • Rex derWunderGott

I’d actually think BETTER of Santorum if we learned he’d had an extramatrimonial affair – especially a gay one. This is a guy on whom sanctimonious hypocrisy would be an IMPROVEMENT.

    Pray or prey?

Wait, isn’t Cain some sort of gospel singer who recently talked about how much his religious faith meant to him?

That joke doesn’t even work. See, in Western cultures, the first name is the given one.

    Haters
will hate, and those of us who disagree with the haters will return the same
amount of respect afforded to Rick
Santorum to their agenda and opinions.
The more lies and filth the haters spew the more those of us not blinded
by hate and intolerance or to close-minded, to listen and consider other ideas
    will decide to support http://www.RickSantourm.com
as he takes the GOP nomination and returns good moral leadership to our White
    House.
