‘She Didn’t Say a Word!’: Lewandowski Gets Slammed Over Trump’s Attacks on Ghazala Khan
Former Donald Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski got in quite the fight with Christine Quinn on Monday morning as they examined the mogul’s persistence in attacking a deceased Muslim war hero’s father for speaking out against him.
Khizr Khan appeared on CNN alongside his wife Ghazala this morning, where they addressed the feud of sorts as Trump blasted them on Twitter. On CNN’s New Day, Lewandowski accused the media of glazing over Trump calling Khan’s son a hero for his service, though Poppy Harlow grilled him over Trump fanning the flames of the feud.
Lewandowski insisted that Capt. Humayun Khan would still be alive if Trump were president because Trump would never have approved the Iraq War, even though previous recordings of Trump on the matter might suggest otherwise. Lewandowski also said that attacking Khan was fair game because of his decision to become a public figure with his emotional speech at the DNC.
Quinn, the Vice Chair of the New York Democratic party, jumped in on this, reminding Lewandowski that Ghazala Khan “didn’t say a word” before Trump attacked her for being silent on stage.
“Any decent person who saw Mrs. Khan on stage could see the pain and the grief in her face,” Quinn said. “And any person who has lost anyone or even any person who’s been so blessed they haven’t could understand why she couldn’t talk, even all these years later, about losing her son in the way she lost him.”
Lewandowski tried to butt in by telling Quinn “you’ve got to relax a little bit,” but she was having none of it. Quinn proceeded to say that Trump forced the Khans to defend themselves on national television when he decided to retaliate to their criticisms instead of letting things go.
