Sony Hackers Get Rep. Peter King’s Attention by Mentioning 9/11

The group that committed a cyber-attack on Sony Pictures, leaking troves of private emails, personal information and unreleased films, has issued a warning to anyone planning to see The Interview this Christmas, in which Seth Rogen and James Franco plot to assassinate Kim Jong-un.

“Remember the 11th of September 2001,” they wrote. “We recommend you to keep yourself distant from the places at that time. (If your house is nearby, you’d better leave.) Whatever comes in the coming days is called by the greed of Sony Pictures Entertainment.”

That was enough to get the attention of Rep. Peter King (R-NY), who joined Wolf Blitzer on CNN to discuss the threats Tuesday afternoon. The congressman said we should be taking the threats “very seriously” without letting them disrupt our every day lives.

In a message that is likely to please Sony, King said he’s not a “big movie guy” and had no plans to see the R-rated comedy with his family this Christmas, but now he’s considering going as an “act of defiance.”
