Tea Party Activist On MSNBC: Obama Is A ‘Kenyan Term For Rodney Dangerfield’

video

Earlier today on MSNBC Live, a heated discussion broke out about…heated rhetoric made yesterday by Teamsters union president Jimmy Hoffa Jr.. A rather tepid subject quickly devolved into more heated rhetoric which culminated in radio talk show host and Tea Party activist Tony Katz proclaiming that he “didn’t know that Obama was a Kenyan term for Rodney Dangerfield.”

Anchor Craig Melvin had set up the segment by asking whether Hoffa’s remarks had done anything to advance dialogue for the country’s political discourse. Democratic strategist Jamal Simmons thought Hoffa’s statement would pump up labor voters for the 2012 election. Katz criticized Hoffa, calling his words, “total nonsense”, adding that Hoffa had an overinflated sense of worth. Tea Party detractors are sure to see his remarks as just another in a long line of incendiary zings towards Obama with a cheeky birtherism:

“Democrats are not responding. Democrats don’t like President Obama. They are trying to embarrass him. I didn’t know that Obama was actually a Kenyan term for Rodney Dangerfield. They give him no respect.”

    and?

owwwww thats gonna leave a mark

  • Anonymous

Mullet is a mullet term for mullet.

  • Redleaf

I wonder if he rehearsed that line in the mirror beforehand.

  • Anonymous

Wow, he delivered a line that he’d probably gone over and over again (saying to himself, this is my ticket).

  • Ari

Yawn, oh, I’m sorry I didn’t know nothing happened…Back to sleep.

  • Anonymous

At best bad humor. But Baraka is actually Arabic

  • http://mediamatters.org/ Leedog

Yet another example of why Tea Party members are considered idiots!!

  • Anonymous

Oh come on Sara. You and I agree but it wasn’t funny, it was a weak attempt at humor. He could have made the same point without bringing Obama’s dad into it.

  • Anonymous

awww did tony touch you inappropriately?

  • Ralph

Jim Hoffa should not use violent rhetoric.  Not for Obama.  Not for anyone.

He didn’t say “throw” or “vote” or “toss,” and context only makes the quote unintelligible.

  • Chris

Have to admit – that was a good line…

  • Anonymous

I’m sure he did. As many who appear on TeeVee do.

  • Anonymous

His name is Kenyan, though. The joke was utterly lame, but it wasn’t out of line unless making any crack that references the POTUS’s heritage is out of line now. It wasn’t a few years ago.

    This doesn’t feel like healing.

  • DietCokeHead

    By who? Liberals?

Trust me, Conservatives think the same of you idiots.

  • Anonymous

Very lame joke. I don’t agree with Obama’s political philosophy, but this guy’s lame joke does nothing to further civil discourse. Hoffa is a d*ckhead for saying what he said, and this guy is acting like one too. If you want to call out Obama for something, let it be for everything he has done since he became a Senator, then President. Call out substantive issues.

Guess who will be marketing his new bumper sticker in about 10 minutes.

  • The Real Royal Emperor

The name is actually Semitic, with ties to Hebrew, Aramaic and Arabic, and it was merely picked up in Swahili.

    Lame, indeed.

However, Katz is the most articulate Teapublican to come along so far.

  • The Real Royal Emperor

    and?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jj-Wisniewski/100002654075475 Jj Wisniewski

This is what I’m talking about. Everybody is talking past each other. When are cooler heads going to prevail. This MSNBC anchor interrupts the tea partier on the right as do Fox anchors, Megyn Kelly, in particular, interrupt guests on the left by threatening to cut their mic off. How about getting rid of the far right and far left and just maybe the adults can come together, find common ground and get something done for Americans rather than for their respective ideologies.

  • The Real Royal Emperor

And, as we know from the Half-Baked Alaskan’s books and her reality television show, “Alaska’s Sarah Palin,” Teapublicans will buy anything.

Compared to the hysterical, out-of-control, demented hate, rage and rants of the lunatic-left d-cRAT socialists, John Belushi, Don Rickles and Sam Kinnison can be considered calm, demure, polite, respectful, civil human beings.

Our gangster president in again in bed with the union thugs.

Yesterday, as most days when he’s NOT on a taxpayer-funded vacation, partying in the White House or playing golf, NO-PLAN OBOZO is at a UNION RALLY kissing UNION BUTT.

Happy (UNION) labor day from OBOZO. The rest of us can go to ….

This guy is a jerk. The concept the Tea Party represents, control spending, is not bad.

  • Anonymous

Really? I’ve never bought a thing of her’s… what does that do to your theory?

Another long day in the rubber room, huh?

    Nary an original thought…

  • Texan

I’d say you pretty much nuked her half baked theory to smithereens. ;)

  • The Real Royal Emperor

The exception to the rule? Actually, I have a fairly high regard for you. Or, at least for your posts.

  • The Real Royal Emperor

And, I have a very low regard for you and for others who molest horsies and other animals.

Funny how you and I had the exact same thought after reading the article.  Wasn’t funny, but not really that offensive either.  Could we try to not make a big deal out of this.

  • http://twitter.com/runforfun54 Ilene K

Yeah, but democrats don’t believe in shutting down the unions, limiting worker salaries, and taking away their right to strike.

Hmmm, wonder which Party IS for that? The disciples of Hitler, I guess:
“We must close union offices, confiscate their money and put their leaders in prison. We must reduce workers salaries and take away their right to strike” – Adolf Hitler, May 2, 1933.

  • Anonymous

There you go. All they have to do is open their mouths. These people just can’t help it. Any wonder Beck’s rally banned signs? When Glenn Beck is embarrassed of you and can’t trust your instincts, that’s got to tell you something

Luckily, they are a minority that has re-risen from semi-extinction and luckily the trip towards extinction will be uninterrupted a cycle or two down the road

  • http://twitter.com/runforfun54 Ilene K

Any party that worships a deadbeat dad cannot gain any credibility.

Katz had an opportunity to say something meaningful, but thought a stupid joke was better. That is hardly representative of his movement.

  • Arthur

Another agitated white man who thinks that he can spout racist non sense. And yes it was racist, what does his Kenyan background have to do with policy? nothing! lame ass cracker.

  • Norbit

    “a rather tepid subject…”?
    ————————————–
The head of one of the nation’s most powerful unions volunteers his membership as an “army” for Barack Obama, and then calls for “war” to ”take out” Tea Party members, and you consider that a rather tepid subject?

  • Anonymous

Hahaha, Tony Katz is cool. He is much funnier than Maher or Letterman, that’s for sure. Let’s see more of this guy. Hahahaaa.

  • huffnnruffln

“The concept the Tea Party represents, control spending, is not bad.”

You better start up a new tea party, because the one to which you refer has been co-opted by the big government Republicans.

  • Just some Blow Hard…

with a mullet like that, I wouldn’t be surprised.

  • TruDat

No, but Democrats are for employers being forced to extort union dues from their employees and send them off to the union masters to help assist with electing more Democrats.  They’re also for requiring huge hourly rates of pay and benefits without any accountability; then they whine about jobs moving overseas.

  • Just some Blow Hard…

  • NDanielson

Yes, Ilene, I hear about foreign investors all the time wanting to set up shop in America so that the unions can run them so well, don’t you??? As I said yesterday, Hoffa and his union goons, with the help of Barry 0bama, won’t even let Boeing set up shop in South Carolina!

Irony, anyone? Don’t you love it that 0bama’s great labor day speech was given in Detroit? Detroit, Lansing, and Dearborn are cities that have been ravaged by the UAW, all to “pay a living wage to the poor abused worker”, and all of Michigan wiped out by decades of liberal social justice. Wake up.

Says Mr. Hoffa: “we want to bring jobs back to America”??? In all the history of unions when has that ever happened?

Wow, a “Republicans are like Hitler” analogy. I thought you idiots ditched that moronic tactic for the ever so popular “if you disagree with Obama, you’re a racist” line.

What the hell? Are you fifteen years old? How did that even remotely pertain to the discussion at hand?

  • DietCokeHead

Megyn Kelly did that to one person that I know of, and it was well deserved in that case. You can’t, as a news anchor, let some moron monopolize the entire segment with their inane leftwing talking points. It serves no purpose, and if the chick would have shut her pie hole, kelly wouldn’t have cut her mic.

So if we work 40 hours or less, we have to worship unions? and if we’re smart enough to see the faults in a ponzi scheme like social security, and want it reformed, we can’t take the money the government took in the first place?

These halfbaked libtard theories are beyond silly, and if you want anyone outside the fringe whacko left to take you seriously, you will re-examine them post haste.

Ok, if I was next to you I will draw a map…

The forty hour work week is a direct result of Unions. If you work less, you are considered part time. If you work more, you get overtime. The 8 hour work day? That’s because of unions too. The fact that children don’t work in factories (well except for all the places we out source too) is because of Unions. Even if the Gov of Maine thinks those laws should be repealed.

As for the Ponzi Scheme that is Social Security (which I am not sure I disagree with, but then most who think this don’t relate insurance companies with racketeering). The majority of Tea Partiers (and studies show this…

  • Nature Freak

    Inadvertently.

  • DietCokeHead

Ya, I can agree with that. He definitely has used it amongst his friends, and tried to force it into a segment with two ObamaPhiles. It came off a bit weak.

  • DietCokeHead

First off, I wouldn’t classify myself as a “tea party person”. I hate labels and group think, especially in a society full of so many idiots.

Secondly, Unions are not inherently bad,  but like most things created and run by man, they go awry, and people get screwed. They had a place in society before laws were put in place to protect the worker. Now they’re just outdated, and full of angry degenerates who believe everyone outside the union is out to get them, and the guy taking their money for union dues is not to be questioned, no matter how absurd his rhetoric is (See Hoffa).

If you want people to give the unions credit for creating a 40 hour work week, maybe you should expect the Unions to give business owners and taxpayers credit for creating the jobs and in the public sector case, funding their entire lives, in most cases, until they die.

    Respect is a two-way street.

  • DietCokeHead

Yes, if it wasn’t for the Unions, weekends wouldn’t exist today. Do you even understand how stupid you people come across to those of us with our heads on the outside of our anuses?

  • DietCokeHead

How do you know i’m a “cracker”?

Not every minority was stupid enough to vote for a prancing political jiggalo because he was “historical”.

the first “Lesbian midget with AIDS” would be “historical” too,  but voting for it wouldn’t put people back to work merely on it’s face, would it?

Yes there are bad apples in all bunches, and the name Hoffa does resonate with the underworld influence on the mob, however it doesn’t mean they are out dated.  People in the Big Branch mine and deepwater horizon would not agree with you on that one.  The reason they are “outdated” is that our manufacturing base was shriveled up and in some cases died.  The demand for cheap goods has caused the demand for cheap labor which means outsourcing to third world countries for cheap (sometimes slave) labor with little oversight for workers rights and safety.  That point there should take apart your second argument.  Owners and tax payers don’t “create” jobs, demand does.  I know no one who give a man a job if no one wants what he makes.

I forgot about that bit of history. Hitler was financed by the same type of backward German and international corporations who are backing the Tea Partiers. Hitler was an extreme authoritarian rightwinger and was certainly no friend of organized democratic unions. What made Hitler different than the Perry-like toadies standing in for the Koch Bros and other klepto-oligarchs was that Hitler co-opted the industrialists and took over everything. We’re now in a pre-fascist state except this isn’t 1930′s Germany and the commonsense decency and smarts of the American people plus our democratic institutions will win out in the end.

  • AA

A non-organized group of Americans is beating up the entrenched Democratic Party? How, and more importantly, why is that happening? Could it be, the vast silent majority isn’t going to be silent anymore, and both political Party’s will be targeted?
I think the crux of this argument centered around the Democrats imploding. I think we can all agree on that part of the argument.

Jake, were you one of the “teamsters” yelling racist shit at jay-z for not using goonion stage hands for his concert in nyc?

Any chance that story will be covered by mediate? Nahh? didn’t think so.

    Fuck You Very Much
    Lily Allen

Look inside, look inside your tiny mind
    Then look a bit harder
‘Cause we’re so uninspired, so sick and tired
Of all the hatred you harbor

So you say it’s not okay to be gay
Well, I think you’re just evil
You’re just some racist who can’t tie my laces
Your point of view is medieval

Fuck you, fuck you very, very much
‘Cause we hate what you do
And we hate your whole crew
So please don’t stay in touch

Fuck you, fuck you very, very much
    ‘Cause your words don’t translate
    And it’s getting quite late
So please don’t stay in touch

Do you get, do you get a little kick
    Out of being small minded?
You want to be like your father
    It’s approval you’re after
Well, that’s not how you find it

Do you, do you really enjoy
Living a life that’s so hateful?
‘Cause there’s a hole where your soul should be
    You’re losing control a bit
    And it’s really distasteful

Fuck you, fuck you very, very much
‘Cause we hate what you do
And we hate your whole crew
So please don’t stay in touch

Fuck you, fuck you very, very much
    ‘Cause your words don’t translate
    And it’s getting quite late
So please don’t stay in touch

Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you
Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you
    Fuck you

You say you think we need to go to war
    Well, you’re already in one
‘Cause it’s people like you that need to get slew
    No one wants your opinion

Fuck you, fuck you very, very much
‘Cause we hate what you do
And we hate your whole crew
So please don’t stay in touch

Fuck you, fuck you very, very much
    ‘Cause your words don’t translate
    And it’s getting quite late
So please don’t stay in touch

Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you
Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you

Katz had Melvin and Simmons for lunch. He embarrassed them when they could/would not answer and really dissed them when he stated “Quit praying at the altar”". The brothers looked dumbfounded.

The fact is that Hoffa was certainly talking about voting when he said the tea party needs to be taken out and that the only way anyone can make anything out of what he said is by taking only a segment of the statement out of context. He used the same verbiage Michelle Bachmann used prior to the 2010 elections and if the right wants to defend her by saying she was talking about voting, then the same must be of Hoffa’s statement. The fact that the right wing media is blowing up only that portion of the words Hoffa used, demonstrates their bias.

Allan Lichtman, the American University professor whose election formula has correctly called every president since Ronald Reagan’s 1984 re-election, has a belated birthday present for Barack Obama: Rest easy, your re-election is in the bag.
“Even if I am being conservative, I don’t see how Obama can lose,” says Lichtman, the brains behind The Keys to the White House.
Lichtman’s prediction helps to explain a quirk in some polling that finds that while Americans disapprove of the president, they still think he will win re-election. [Check out political cartoons about the 2012 GOP field.]
Working for the president are several of Lichtman’s keys, tops among them incumbency and the scandal-free nature of his administration.Undermining his re-election is a lack of charisma and leadership on key issues, says Lichtman, even including healthcare, Obama’s crowning achievement.
Lichtman developed his 13 Keys in 1981. They test the performance of the party that holds the presidency. If six or more of the 13 keys go against the party in power, then the opposing party wins.“The keys have figured into popular politics a bit,” Lichtman says. “They’ve never missed. They’ve been right seven elections in a row. A number that goes way beyond statistical significance in a record no other system even comes close to.”
Lichtman’s earned quite the reputation. In 1992, it seemed likely former President George H.W. Bush would be re-elected, having reached historic highs in popularity after he launched a war that pushed Iraqi troops out of Kuwait. But Lichtman thought otherwise and that factored into former Arkansas Gov. Bill Clinton’s decision to challenge Bush.“I got a call from this woman with a thick southern drawl. It was Clinton’s special assistant. She wanted to know if it was true that a Democrat could win. I assured her it was and I sent Clinton a copy of my book and a memo and the rest is history.” [See photos of the Obamas behind the scenes.]
In 2005, Lichtman also hit a home run when he said that the political stage was looking so bad for Republicans that Democrats could pick a name out of the phone book and win in 2008, the year a little known first-term senator became the first African-American to win the presidency.
Now Lichtman’s predicting a repeat performance by Obama.

What’s in a name? except when it connotes bloodline which in cockfighting is important to determine gameness or dunghill.
