Warning To Frogs: Stay Away From Fox News! Stossel Borrows Beck’s ‘Boiling Frog’ Gag

If Kermit were ever to take up politics, he might want to do all his interviews over on MSNBC or CNN. Earlier today, John Stossel explained the gradual increase of government to Megyn Kelly using the same visual metaphor that, last year, got Glenn Beck into a bit of, ahem, hot water. It was a tease for a segment on his own show and, as such, it worked perfectly. It insured Stossel will get at least a few new viewers: PETA.

Yes, it was frog boiling time on Fox News. Of course, Stossel did learn at least one lesson from Beck’s frog-related troubles; make sure the audience knows your faking. While Beck had to explain repeatedly that his frogs were fake, Stossel chose to use real amphibians but clearly point out that his heating pad was unplugged. Still though, with all this talk of boiling small water life, may we suggest a new contributor for Fox? He’s charming, great fun to watch, and can even take on Stossel in a moustache-off!

With all this potential animal cruelty going on, Kelly seemed to be completely distracted by how cute the frogs (named Karl Rove and Joe Trippi, of course) were, making sure to pet one and suggesting that, if the frogs represented our politicians, we should just kiss them until they become handsome princes. And that is why Megyn Kelly is one of the most endearing newscasters on TV. Sorry, Stossel, but romantic fairy tale metaphors are much more fun than frog-killing fables.

Whose frog was fake? Beck’s? I stated that and linked to an article where Beck explained as much. As for today, at least one of Stossel’s frogs could clearly be seen breathing which is why I mentioned (and he showed) that the heating pan was off.

For the record, everybody, no frogs were hurt this time or the other time!
