While Everyone Was Talking About Michele Bachmann, An Egyptian Uprising Starts?

Video

While seemingly everyone on television was busy perfecting his or her Michele Bachmann impression (Hey, did you hear that she looked into the wrong camera?), Fox’s Shepard Smith reported on the uprising currently gripping Egypt.

The news coming out of Egypt – and impacting U.S. allies – hasn’t been given too much attention on major news networks today, which have chosen to focus much more on President Barack Obama‘s State of the Union address and, to a nearly equal extent, Bachman’s response on behalf of the Tea Party movement.

Also taking a close look at the turmoil overseas is, interestingly, former CNN anchor Rick Sanchez, who has been diligently Tweeting news coming out of Egypt – a noble and necessary service, given many in Egypt have found that their access to Twitter has been blocked.

Watch Smith’s report, from Fox News:

Revolution is contagious.. won’t be long before it spreads elsewhere, whether good or bad.

  • The_Reasonable_Lib

Cue talking points about Fox being the only one reporting on this hence making them the “only trusted news organization”…

Now you’re an evil lefty trying to bring about the downfall of this country and inject socialism into our once great Republic.

    How about that . NEWS.

    Still like Shep.

NPR kept me well informed of the happenings today. I wonder if I missed a clip of a water-sking squirrel that FoxNews may have filled the rest of their time with.

Kudos to Shep and Fox for mentioning the story, but let’s also be fair and say that CNN actually has a correspondent in Cairo and the guy – Ben Wedeman – was doing live shots all day. Saw him at least six-seven times today reporting from there.

For anyone tuning in to Chris Matthews epilogue on Wednesday, it was a textbook example of media manipulation.

Matthews began with the analyses of the SOTU address.
He had predictable plaudits for the President’s “majestic” speech, acknowledged Paul Ryan’s “respectable” one – and then proceeded to vilify the Tea Party, his fulmination this night directed at Michelle Bachmann.

Setting the premise for the President and Ryan to be the majestic and respectable representatives on the political stage, Matthews attempts to cast Bachmann and the Tea Party as “loony tune”.
This is how petrified of the Tea Party the Progressive Left has become!

Oh, and Matthews prefaced those remarks with: “I speak in all objectivity here”; and then linked Bachmann’s SOTU response to, hold on to your seats, slavery!
This, from an NBC network host.

You just can’t make this stuff up!

I can’t watch tv news during the day but I know NPR has been covering it. At least yesterday I was reading that it was completely being ignored by Al-Jazeera’s Arabic channel – I wonder why.

Hey Norbit Jr. It’s very easy to tell that you are petrified at how easy it is to ridicule right wing wackos like Bachmann. Take a tranquilizer.

More on topic, Bachmann and her ilk should take tranquilizers too. It looks like the revolution that is spreading is the little guys against wealthy, thieving abusers. Read it and weep, Greedy Old Party.

Anderson relegated the Egypt story to a brief mention on “The Bulletin” while he covered important stories like fake 9/ll coins, a Noah’s Ark Theme Park, Dennis Kucinich’s olive pit law suit, and yet another story on bullying.

This is how he gets those great ratings!

BTW, I saw Shep’s report. First-rate as usual!

Is that a talking point or a simple fact? You obviously noticed it.

Sure, any nitwit can do it. And here’s one now.

Wait, I though that makes him a racist right wing nut job who just can’t handle having a black guy in the White House and wants poor people to starve to death.

The news in Egypt is sending Liberals into a dizzying spin. One the one hand, Libs must “stand by your man” and continue to worship Hussein Soetoro by ignoring anything negative in world events they can’t blame on the Tea Party. One the other hand, Muslim terrorists share the same hatred for America as the anti-American Left, and Liberals must remain quiet about their support for the Islamic revolution against a government that’s been somewhat friendly towards US interests.

    Birds of a feather……………..

If what you’re saying is that the choices made in TV news control rooms are made by people completely lacking in imagination, talent, any recall whatsoever of what they learned in journ school (if any of them actually went to journ school), you’re right. Thank you for point out that painful truth. If it wasn’t for The New YorK Times, Rachel Maddow, and Jon Stewart, I wouldn’t know where to even begin to look, if I wanted to know anything actually important.

    Forgot to spell-check.
