‘You’re Gonna Regret This!’ Rhode Island Assistant Attorney General Protests, ‘I’m an AG!’ During Arrest Caught on Body Camera

A Rhode Island prosecutor’s arrest was caught on camera Thursday as she repeatedly protested, “I’m an AG!” and warned the officer, “You’re gonna regret this!”
Special Assistant Attorney General Devon Flanagan was arrested outside the Clarke Cooke House restaurant in Newport, Rhode Island after she refused to leave the premises despite being kicked out.
Flanagan became confrontational from the moment officers turned up at the scene, with the prosecutor demanding that an officer turn his body camera off.
“I want you to turn your body cam off. Protocol is that you turn it off if a citizen requests it to turn it off,” Flanagan could be seen telling the officer in body camera footage, as her friend announced, “She’s a lawyer.”
“So they want you guys to leave. Let’s just leave. Let’s just make it easy, okay?” the officer replied.
Following multiple attempts to get Flanagan and her friends to move away from the premises, the officer asked a man at the restaurant whether he wanted the group to be trespassed, to which the man said yes.
“You’re trespassed, so we gotta leave now,” the officer informed Flanagan, who snapped, “We’re not trespassing. You haven’t notified us that we’re trespassing.”
The officer warned, “I don’t wanna arrest you guys. We gotta go.”
Flanagan, ignoring the order, proceeded to argue with the officer about the law while her friend shouted, “She’s a f***ing lawyer so she knows!”
“Well that’s bullsh** lawyer stuff, so that’s not true. So we gotta go,” replied the officer.
“I’m an AG,” protested Flanagan, before the officer responded, “Good for you. I don’t give a sh**. Let’s go.”
As the group continued to argue and refused to leave, the officer handcuffed Flanagan as she shouted, “I’m an AG! I’m an AG!”
“She’s an AG! Her badge is in the car. You want me to go get her badge?” asked one of Flanagan’s friends as the prosecutor was placed in the back of a police cruiser.
“Buddy, you’re gonna regret this. You’re gonna regret it! I’m an A–” screamed Flanagan, who was then cut off as the officer slammed the door.
One of Flanagan’s friends was also reportedly arrested.
In a statement, the Rhode Island Attorney General’s office announced it was reviewing the incident.
“Ms. Flanagan has been employed with the Office for approximately 7 years and is currently assigned to Appellate Unit of the Criminal Division,” read the statement. “The Office immediately began a review of the incident, which we anticipate will conclude within the next few days.”
