NEW POLL: Twice as Many Voters Think Trump Has ‘The Necessary Physical and Mental Health to Be President’ Compared to Biden

A new poll by NBC News found that twice as many voters believe former President Donald Trump is more physically and mentally healthy to serve in the White House than President Joe Biden.

Moreover, the poll found the incumbent trails Trump by double digits on key issues for swing voters — including the economy and foreign policy. Regarding immigration, the president’s deficit against his Republican opponent is more than 30-points — as large numbers of migrants continue to cross the southern border.

Despite a four-year age difference between Trump and Biden, voters surveyed in the latest NBC News poll released on Sunday believe Trump has “the necessary physical and mental health to be president” compared to Biden. Trump leads Biden 23-points in that category — 46-23.

The subject of cognitive function has gotten a ton of attention — as both the 81-year-old Biden and the 77-year-old Trump have made gaffes on the campaign trail. During a recent speech, Trump confused Nikki Haley with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Biden, meanwhile, has recently gone viral several times for delivering slurred, hard-to-understand remarks.

As for other issues; on securing the border and controlling immigration Trump has a 35-point edge, and on dealing with crime and violence Trump again leads the president by 21-points.

Trump and Biden are heavy favorites to represent their parties in November’s general election — setting the stage for a 2020 rematch. According to Real Clear Politics, which averages all recent polls, Trump has a slight edge over Biden nationally on average by 2.1 percent.

However, Biden’s has struggled to convince voters he is more capable on the economy than Trump despite record-low unemployment and Wall Street skyrocketing in recent weeks.

The NBC News poll was conducted from January 26th-30th with 1,000 registered voters with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1%.
