The Republican 2024 presidential candidates reaffirmed their support for Israel amid the ongoing surprise attack by Hamas, with some pointing the blame at President Joe Biden.

Hamas militants attacked Israel by infiltrating towns and shooting missiles resulting in the death of 200 in Gaza and 100 civilians in Israel. During a televised address on Saturday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu notified his country that “we are at war.”

Donald Trump issued a statement following the attack, touting the signing of the Abraham Accords during his administration, which he claimed brought “peace to the Middle East.”

“Sadly, American taxpayer dollars helped fund these attacks, which many reports are saying came from the Biden Administration,” Trump said in a statement. “We brought so much peace to the Middle East through the Abraham Accords, only to see Biden whittle it away at a far more rapid pace than anyone thought possible. Here we go again.”

Meanwhile, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis stated that Israel had a right to defend itself against unwarranted attacks and that America must stand with them.

“The dastardly terrorist attacks perpetrated against innocent Israeli civilians by Iran-backed terror group Hamas deserve a swift and lethal response,” the governor wrote in a post on X. “Israel not only has the right to defend itself against these attacks, it has a duty to respond with overwhelming force. I stand with Israel. America must stand with Israel.”

Nikki Haley, who served in the Trump administration as the ambassador to the United Nations slammed Hamas as a “bloodthirsty terrorist organization backed by Iran.”

“The reports out of Israel are horrific with a stunning number of dead and wounded and should be universally condemned,” Haley wrote on X. “Israel has every right to defend its citizens from terror. We must always stand with Israel and against this Iranian regime.”

Moreover, Vivek Ramaswamy, who has been criticized by his fellow Republicans over his foreign policy regarding Israel, was also quick to show support by claiming he was “appalled by the barbaric and medieval Hamas attacks.”

“Shooting civilians and kidnapping children are war crimes,” Ramaswamy wrote to his followers on social media. “Israel’s right to exist & defend itself should never be doubted and Iran-backed Hamas & Hezbollah cannot be allowed to prevail. I stand with Israel and the U.S. should too.”
