Justice Ginsburg: I’d Like to Use SNL’s ‘Gins-Burn’ Motto Against Supreme Court Colleagues

The Notorious RBG is a fan of actor Kate McKinnon’s satirical portrayal of her on Saturday Night Live, as the Supreme Court justice opened up about her appearance on the show and the famed “Gins-burn” catchphrase.

During an interview at this year’s annual Sundance Film Festival, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said, “I like the actress [McKinnon] who portrayed me. And I would like to say ‘Gins-burn’ sometimes to my colleagues.”

Her “Gins-burn” joke recieved laughs and applause from the audience who were there to hear the justice discuss the biographical documentary RBG, which was screened at the festival.

As for McKinnon’s portrayal of Ginsburg, the actor frequently appears on the show as the justice whenever Supreme Court-related news pops up in the media. SNL had one famous bit after President Donald Trump’s inauguration in which McKinnon, as Ginsburg, joked that she now had to “stay alive” to ensure the current administration didn’t get anymore justice nominations.

As reported by The Hill, the 84-year-old Ginsburg also noted that she has no intentions of leaving her position on the Supreme Court, despite the constant rumors that circulate around Washington D.C. suggesting she will retire.
