WATCH: Hannibal’s Langues D’Agneau En Papillotte Is ‘Inspired By Auguste Escoffier’

On last night’s Hannibal, the good doctor served up a dish “inspired by Auguste Escoffier”: langues d’agneau en papillotte with a sauce of duxelle and oyster mushrooms, picked himself (such a little forager). “Inspired,” of course, because Dr. Lecter put his own twist on the dish; the tongue came from an especially “chatty lamb,” if you know what he means. Okay, we grow weary of the winking figurative language, Dr. Lecter. People tongues. He used people tongues. Poor Escoffier.
