CNN Democrat Bizarrely Blames Locked Up Toiletries in Stores on ‘The Trump Economy’

CNN political commentator Karen Finney said President Donald Trump’s poor economy is the reason why you have to ask a sales associate to unlock the deodorant and soap every time you go to CVS.

Finney, during a segment on The Situation Room Tuesday morning, said the economy is driving people to steal — and making the shopping experience miserable for law-abiding citizens as a result.

Her co-panelist, CNN commentator and former Trump 2016 campaign advisor David Urban, had just complimented Curtis Sliwa, the Republican candidate for mayor in New York City, for saying criminals need to be locked up, not toothpaste. Finney then shared her take.

“But that is an economic [issue] right? People are really suffering in the Trump economy to the point where they’re getting desperate,” Finney said.

Urban, right before, had been telling co-host Wolf Blitzer that Republicans like Sliwa were correct in saying robberies have gotten out of control in big cities like NYC.

“When people go to the CVS or Walgreens, or the Duane Reade to go buy deodorant, it looks like they’re trying to buy a Cartier watch, right?” Urban said. “The guy comes out with keys, they’re like ‘Which one would you like to see, Mr. Blitzer?’ I just want deodorant, right? So it affects people.”

That’s when Finney, a former spokesperson for Hillary Clinton’s doomed 2016 presidential bid, said Trump’s economy was fueling lawlessness.

She also said the economy is a big reason Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani is the frontrunner to be NYC’s next mayor; the Democratic Socialists of America have called for police to not arrest thieves for crimes like shoplifting items worth less than $1,000.

“For all of the working class to achieve collective liberation we must constrain, diminish, and abolish the carceral forces of the state — from prisons and police themselves, to their manifestations in all forms throughout society,” The DSA platform said.
