Access Hollywood Co-Host Kit Hoover on Billy Bush: ‘He is a Good Person
This morning, Access Hollywood Live‘s Kit Hoover and Natalie Morales addressed Billy Bush‘s suspension from NBC’s Today after video surfaced of a conversation from 2005 between the host and Donald Trump that was lewd and sexist.
Hoover said that the video was “devastating,” and said that what she saw was not the person she knew and worked with for six years. Morales began by saying “Kit, I know this has been a tough time because Billy is a good friend to us.”
Hoover was emotional, and responded, saying:
To all of us here. First of all, I mean, I don’t even know where to begin with all of this. When the tapes came out on Friday, I was home watching with my 14-year-old daughter and the tapes are inexcusable. But I’m watching this tape and I’m watching this person. Those tapes were a decade ago, and it was seven minutes of someone’s life, and all I can tell you is what I know and the person that I sat next to for the last six years, and that person for me is a totally different person.
He always treated me with kindness, such respect. I mean, Natalie, he treated me like an equal from day one and I think anybody that watched our show at home and saw us together knew how much he rooted for me and [was] really always in my corner. It was just devastating to watch how all this has unfolded, and the Billy that I know and a lot of people would say has the biggest heart of anybody and he is a good person.
Morales seemed to agree with Hoover, noting that he was incredibly congratulatory and supportive when she told him she would be taking over his role at the show.
Bush’s suspension is indefinite, and an internal review is pending. It doesn’t look like he’ll be back on our screens anytime soon.
