Bill Maher Torpedoes Trump Fan On ‘Hoax’ Claim: ‘It’s On Tape!’

Comedian and pundit Bill Maher torpedoed author and Trump supporter Walter Kirn for saying “Russiagate” was “completely made up,” exclaiming “It’s on tape!”

On Friday night’s edition of HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, the interview guest was Thomas Chatterton Williams, staff writer at The Atlantic and author of “Summer of Our Discontent: The Age of Certainty and the Demise of Discourse.”

The panel guests were Walter Kirn, best-selling author and editor-at-large of County Highway; and Molly Jong-Fast, host of the podcast “Fast Politics with Molly Jong-Fast” and author of “How to Lose Your Mother: A Daughter’s Memoir.”

During the panel segment, Maher pushed back on the resistance narrative of Trump as a “Russian agent,” but bristled at Kirn’s insistence that the Russia investigation was fabricated, as Trump and his administration have falsely claimed:

BILL MAHER: Which I think he, I mean, I don’t, look, I don’t think he was exactly a Russian agent, but, you know, Russiagate was not, you know completely made up.

WALTER KIRN: Well, Bill, there we disagree. I think we’re finding out day by day that it was almost completely made up–

BILL MAHER: Oh, please!

WALTER KIRN: Yeah. Yeah.

BILL MAHER: It’s on tape! He’s asking the Russians for help on tape, which he gave them that day!

They released those those emails that day that they hacked. He said could you please hack some shit? They did it and released it that day to help him!

So don’t tell me there’s no smoke Let’s not get let’s not relitigate that year because–.

Well we are relitigating it because it’s before a grand jury right now. And we’ll find out who–.

BILL MAHER: Okay Let me ask a broader question, because, first, I take your point that I think it’s kind of a zombie lie that Trump is Putin’s, you know, bitch, because he certainly was over-friendly to him for a very long time, considering who Putin is, a thug and a murderer.

WALTER KIRN: In 2015, Obama met him and nobody said anything in New York. Met him.

BILL MAHER: He didn’t praise him, he didn’t say he’s the greatest guy in the world! I could read 20 compliments that Trump has given to him. He said “He’s a fun guy to be with.”.

No, that’s Epstein.
