Kevin Spacey may have been fired by Netflix amid sexual misconduct allegations, but the actor revived his dead Frank Underwood character for a new video promoting Tim Dillon’s new comedy special — which is streaming on Netflix.
“You podcasters think you’ve inherited the kingdom,” Spacey as Underwood tells Dillon in a video released Tuesday to promote the special, titled I’m Your Mother.
Since being dismissed from Netflix’s House of Cards in 2017, Spacey has on his own revived his Underwood character, including for an interview with Tucker Carlson in 2023.
“Frank Underwood? I thought you were dead,” Dillon says in the new video.
“I’m as dead as John McCain,” Spacey says.
“He is dead,” Dillon says.
“Excuse my ignorance, I meant Herman Cain,” Spacey replies as Dillon informs him he is also dead.
In the video, Spacey then tries to blackmail Dillon with information about his past DoorDash orders — including paying $6,000 to have an ice cream cake overnighted only to return it — as well as “photos” kept in an envelope.
“These photos you gave me,” Dillon says, “I’ve posted them all. I’m on the internet. We don’t have blackmail. We have content.”
“There is no limit to your duplicity, to your pandering, to your shameless and desperate desire to cling to relevance,” Spacey says, adding, “You’re my kind of bastard.”
When Dillon informs Spacey his special is streaming on Netflix, the actor replies, “You foul, lonesome, evil little cockroach. But I love you.”
Spacey was dismissed from Netflix’s House of Cards as he faced multiple allegations of sexual misconduct from men. Netflix also shelved a Gore Vidal biopic Spacey had starred in and produced. The actor was ordered to pay $1 million to the producers of House of Cards due to the allegations of misconduct.
The actor has long maintained his innocence and pushed back against the allegations that halted his acting career in a series of interviews in 2024 where he admitted he was broke after costly trials and a struggle to find work beyond small, independent features. Spacey said his conduct never crossed the line of legality.
Among the allegations was one from fellow actor Anthony Rapp, who claimed Spacey assaulted him when he was just a minor. Spacey won a sexual battery lawsuit filed by Rapp in 2022. He also was acquitted of multiple counts of sexual assault charges in the UK in 2023.
