‘Thank You to the President’: Nicki Minaj Praises Trump for Condemning Nigeria’s Treatment of Christians

President Donald Trump got some surprising praise, on Saturday, from rap star Nicki Minaj — who has largely stayed apolitical in recent years.
Minaj — in a post on X — shared a screenshot of a Truth Social post from Trump in which the president condemned Nigeria for what he called a “mass slaughter” of Christians. (The Nigerian government has repeatedly denied the accusations of mass violence against Christians.)
“Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria,” Trump wrote on Friday. “Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter. I am hereby making Nigeria a ‘COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN’ — But that is the least of it. When Christians, or any such group, is slaughtered like is happening in Nigeria (3,100 versus 4,476 Worldwide), something must be done!”
Minaj lauded the post from the president.
“Reading this made me feel a deep sense of gratitude,” Minaj wrote on X. “We live in a country where we can freely worship God. No group should ever be persecuted for practicing their religion. We don’t have to share the same beliefs in order for us to respect each other. Numerous countries all around the world are being affected by this horror & it’s dangerous to pretend we don’t notice. Thank you to The President & his team for taking this seriously. God bless every persecuted Christian. Let’s remember to lift them up in prayer.”
In a follow-up post, Mike Waltz — the U.S. ambassasador to the U.N. — invited Minaj to meet with him at the U.S. Embassy to discuss the topic further.
“I’d be honored,” Minaj replied. “Thank you, ambassador.”
Despite debunked claims on social media that Minaj endorsed Trump ahead of the 2024 election, the rap icon has mostly avoided weighing in on the president over the past decade. On numerous occasions, she has criticized Trump’s immigration policies — although she has also said she wanted to avoid jumping on the “bandwagon” of hate against Trump.
