Trump’s FCC Brutally Mocked in Kimmel Return — by Rabid Anti-Trump Star Robert DeNiro
Acting legend and rabid anti-Trumper Robert DeNiro brutally satirized President Donald Trump in a sketch on Jimmy Kimmel’s first show after being suspended in the wake of the Charlie Kirk shooting.
The media world was shaken last Wednesday night by the news that ABC had suspended Kimmel’s show “indefinitely,” just hours after he was targeted by Brendan Carr, President Trump’s hand-picked FCC commissioner.
Amid fierce backlash from all quarters and reports of mass cancellations of Disney+ subscriptions, ABC announced this Monday that Kimmel’s show would return.
The host did indeed return on Tuesday’s edition of Jimmy Kimmel Live, and after a marathon monologue that was at times defiant, triumphant, and heartfelt, Kimmel went to work on the Trump FCC that had coerced him off the air.
To do so, he enlisted DeNiro — infamous for his scathing rants against Trump — to portray a nameless replacement for Carr with a familiar gangland vibe:
JIMMY KIMMEL: We are in the middle, and in a lot of ways, still are in the middle of an unprecedented fix. After almost 23 years on the air, we’re suddenly not being broadcast in 20% of the country, which is not a situation we relish.
So we reached out to the chairman of the FCC, Brendan Carr, and he has, to his credit, agreed to join us from his office in Washington. And here he is now. Thank you, Chairman Carr, for being with us tonight.
FCC CHIEF ROBERT DENIRO: You tell Whoopi over there she better show a little respect, or the only view she’s getting is from under George Washington, the bridge, not the guy.
JIMMY KIMMEL: Excuse me, sir? Yeah, hi. It’s-.
FCC CHIEF ROBERT DENIRO: Well, what is this? You sneak up on me? You don’t sneak up a person. It’s not nice.
JIMMY KIMMEL: I’m sorry, what is your name as I was expecting to talk to the chairman of the FCC?
FCC CHIEF ROBERT DENIRO: You don’t need to know my name and I am the new chairman of the FCC.
JIMMY KIMMEL: You were appointed FCC chairman by Donald Trump?
FCC CHIEF ROBERT DENIRO: Sir Trump, yes, I used to do some work for the man here and there in Atlantic City.
JIMMY KIMMEL: But did I just hear you on the phone threatening Whoopi Goldberg?
FCC CHIEF ROBERT DENIRO: No, I would never threaten Ms. Goldstein. I was just teaching her a lesson about consequences.
JIMMY KIMMEL: Pardon me for saying so, maybe you’re the wrong guy to talk to, but it seems like the FCC is using mob tactics to suppress free speech.
FCC CHIEF ROBERT DENIRO: What the f*** did you just say to me?
JIMMY KIMMEL: I didn’t mean any offense. You know, you can’t curse or we’ll get fined by the FCC.
FCC CHIEF ROBERT DENIRO: I am the f***ing FCC. I can f*** say whatever the f**k I want. No.
JIMMY KIMMEL: Well, this does, it sounds a little like threats and intimidation to me, Chairman.
FCC CHIEF ROBERT DENIRO: Stop that. It’s, look, it’s just me,Jimmy, the chairman of the FCC gently suggesting that you gently shut the f*** up.
JIMMY KIMMEL: But you can’t say that, that’s a violation of free speech.
FCC CHIEF ROBERT DENIRO: Oh yeah, about that. Speech, it ain’t free no more.
JIMMY KIMMEL: It’s not free no more?
FCC CHIEF ROBERT DENIRO: Yeah, we’re charging by the word now.
JIMMY KIMMEL: You’re charging, how much are you charging?
It depends on what you want to say, like you want say something nice about the president’s beautiful thick yellow hair, how he can do his makeup better than any broad, that’s free.
But if you wanna do a joke like he’s so fat he needs two seats on the Epstein jet, that’s gonna cost you.
