Comedian and actor Michael Rapaport had a comedy show in Wisconsin canceled due to safety concerns amid protests surrounding the Israel-Hamas war.
Rapaport responded to reports of the cancellation on Thursday through X, formerly Twitter, by confirming his show was canceled and calling it “very, very, very fucked up.”
“Yup!!! Very very very Fucked Up!” he wrote in response to a message saying the comedy club had canceled the show due to the “pro-terror mob.”
Radio host Dan O’Donnell posted an email the comedy club Comedy on State allegedly sent to customers canceling the show. The club has not responded to an inquiry from Mediaite.
“In light of the current environment downtown, marked by escalating protests and a contentious nature of the dialogue surrounding current affairs, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Thursday show with Michael Rapaport. The safety and well-being of our audience members, staff, and community are our top priorities, and we believe this decision is in the best interest of all involved,” the email reads.
Protests around the Israel-Hamas war have escalated in recent weeks. Police broke up multiple encampments at college campuses where students demanded their schools divest from Israel and for an immediate ceasefire. Israel’s strikes on Gaza have killed thousands of civilians, but they have vowed to not stop until the terror group Hamas is eliminated. The terror group, known for using human shields, attacked Israel on Oct. 7 and killed more than 1,000 and kidnapped hundreds more.
In the email posted to X, the club apologized for any “discomfort” and promised a full refund. Comedy on State is located near the University of Wisconsin-Madison where students have been protesting with an encampment.
“It was never our intention to put our audience members in a position of discomfort or risk, and we are deeply sorry for any anxiety or uncertainty this situation may have caused,” it reads.
A website selling tickets for Rapaport’s show confirmed it was canceled.
Rapaport has been outspoken in his support for Israel. He shocked critics recently when he announced that voting for Donald Trump in November is “on the table” in a video discussing migrants attacking a New York City police officer. Rapaport was one of Trump’s most vocal Hollywood critics and even when he acknowledged voting for him was on the table, the actor still referred to the former president as a “pig dick.”
