Legendary “Piano Man” Billy Joel drove a fan crazy as he pulled up next to a New York City pedicab driver who was blasting one of his songs.
Video posted to Joel’s social media this week showed the pedicab driver hauling two tourists in the Big Apple as he approached in a car. Joel’s 1976 hit, “New York State of Mind” can clearly be heard from the pedicab’s speakers.
“OK, next time!” the driver says to Joel, not recognizing him at first.
“Whoa!” the driver shouted, extending his hand as he realized who was in the car. “You see we are playing you, man. Can I take a picture with you, please? Hey, man. Big fan.”
“We love you,” one of the pedicab passengers shouts as the other tries to pull out her phone for a picture. “How are you feeling?”
Joel’s official Instagram account posted a video of the interaction with the caption: “We’re in a New York State of Mind…always.”

Joel shocked fans earlier this year when he announced he was suffering from a brain disorder after falling on stage during a show at the Mohegan Sun resort in Connecticut in February.
In video captured by a fan, Joel can be seen throwing his microphone stand to the audience when he loses his balance and falls backward onto his side.
