WATCH: Anthony Bourdain Admits He Eats Popeye’s Chicken

On last night’s mid-season premiere of No Reservations, Anthony Bourdain admitted the unthinkable: he ate Popeye’s fried chicken that morning on the way to Penang.

In his defense, he was exhausted, grumpy, and had just come off a plane from “halfway around the world,” and no words can really describe the simultaneous laugh-cry of shame that comes with his admitting the truth in the video below.

And, because he was also live-tweeting the episode, he needed to flagellate himself in penance.

“Embarrassed about the Popeyes confession. My hideous secret…I even eat that nasty Popeyes Mac’n’Cheese. If no one is looking. #soashamed”

There is absolutely no shame in Popeye’s, dude. It is what it is. You can’t be a culinary elitist eating whelks and roasted pigs all the time.
