Macaulay Culkin is Done With Acting and is Now My Favorite Food Writer/Jokester

As Macaulay Culkin told New York Magazine this week, he’s now retired from acting and is busy “whatevering.” Turns out, “whatevering” includes notebooks full of writing.

He has a “pile of moleskins” that “[preoccupy] him.” During the interview, he was “furiously paging through” one of the notebooks to find a “series of jokes” he had written. He takes the classic beginning ‘when life gives you lemons,’ but adds his own ending. Three he picked out are:

“When life gives you lemons…cook fish.”

“When life gives you lemons…be thankful it didn’t give you testicular cancer.”

“When life gives you lemons … you should paint them green and see if anyone notices they are not limes.”

He says that it “goes on for pages.” I would give anything to see these pages. They are all I want to read for the rest of my life, always. Thank you for giving us these gifts.
