Fox News Asks Readers to Evaluate Elon Musk… Only After Celebrating That He ‘Partnered’ With Trump to ‘Save Taxpayers Billions’

Fox News went full cheerleader after Elon Musk departed his post with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), applauding him for saving Americans “billions.”

“HE’S OUT! [Elon Musk] exits [DOGE] after taking the government to task and waging war on waste,” Fox wrote on X following Musk announcing his departure. “Musk partnered with [Donald Trump] to help save American taxpayers billions by slashing waste, fraud and abuse. What grade would you give his job performance?”

DOGE calculates it has saved hundreds of billions, about $1,000 per taxpayer, though critics have expressed doubt about those figures and blasted it for cutting program like USAID and not focusing enough on the Pentagon, which President Donald Trump announced will be receiving its biggest budget ever.

In a Wednesday post on X, Musk announced his role as a special government employee was coming to an end.

“As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending,” he wrote. “The [DOGE] mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government.”

In another recent X post, Fox News’ Twitter similarly posed a question to its audience, asking whether “liberal outlets” like CNN should “face consequences” over their lack of coverage of former President Joe Biden’s “decline” in office.

“Should liberal outlets like @CNN face consequences for ignoring the signs — even after years of receiving tips about Biden’s decline?” the account asked, citing reporting from Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson’s Original Sin book, which suggests Biden officials were actively hiding the then-president over concerns about his physical and mental stamina.
