BREAKING: Harvey Weinstein’s 2020 Rape Conviction Overturned By NY Appeals Court

Harvey Weinstein’s 2020 rape conviction has been overturned.

In a 4-3 decision, the New York Court of Appeals overturned the conviction — citing an error from the presiding judge in the trial by allowing testimony from women who said Weinstein assaulted them, whose accusations were not part of the case.

“We conclude that the trial court erroneously admitted testimony of uncharged, alleged prior sexual acts against persons other than the complainants of the underlying crimes,” the decision said. “The remedy for these egregious errors is a new trial.”

The decision will not set Weinstein free. In 2022, the disgraced Hollywood titan was sentenced to 16 years in prison after being convicted of raping a woman in a hotel in California. However, he is currently serving his time in a penal facility in upstate New York.

This story is breaking.
