Israel Bombs Iran, Says Retaliatory Strike ‘Expected in the Immediate Future’

Israel launched a series of strikes against Iran on Thursday before warning civilians that a retaliatory strike was “expected in the immediate future.”

Several explosions could be seen in Tehran on Thursday evening as Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a statement confirming Israel’s attack on Iran.

“Following the state of Israel’s preemptive strike against Iran, a missile and drone attack against the state of Israel and its civilian population is expected in the immediate future,” said Katz.

President Donald Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff is scheduled to meet Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Oman on Sunday to continue discussions over a potential nuclear deal.

President Trump warned on Thursday that an Israeli strike against Iran could hamper his administration’s ongoing discussions and spark a “massive conflict.”

“I don’t want them going in, because I think it would blow it,” said Trump. “Might help it actually, but it also could blow it.”

Trump added, however, that he did not think a strike was imminent.

“I don’t want to say imminent, but it looks like it’s something that could very well happen,” he told reporters.

The Jerusalem Post reported on Thursday that the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) were preparing to carry out a strike against Iran “in the coming days” without U.S. support.
