President Donald Trump has set social media ablaze with his patio redesign of the White House Rose Garden, with critics calling it “gross” and “appalling.”
The latest pictures of the president’s new installation at the White House has some pulling their hair out. As part of a Rose Garden redesign project, the central lawn has been replaced by concrete. Roses in the garden remain. The drainage grates on the sides of the concrete patio are shaped like American flags while the corners are the presidential seal.
Some MAGA influencers offered praise for the redesign, but social media was flooded with critics piling on, some propping up the patio as indicative of their central issues with the administration and others simple mocking the simple design.
Trump told Fox News’ Laura Ingraham in March that the lawn area did not work for press conferences and other events.
“You know, we use [the Rose Garden] for press conferences, and it doesn’t work because the people fall. The terrain can be wet, and the soft ground can be an issue for some… Women, with the high heels, it just didn’t work,” he said.
