Gavin Newsom Mocks Trump as Evil Star Wars Villain Emperor Palpatine

California Governor Gavin Newsom mocked President Donald Trump as Star Wars villain Emperor Palpatine in a pair of bizarre AI-generated TikTok videos posted by his press office on Tuesday as riots grip Los Angeles.
The X posts use the ominous voice of the evil Star Wars emperor to read aloud Trump’s recent Truth Social posts calling for the restoration of order in Los Angeles as protests continue, backed by the film’s music and visuals of Imperial stormtroopers. The videos appear to have been sourced from TikTok user @ethanthebrown.
The first video quotes Trump’s Sunday post: “Order will be restored, the illegals will be expelled, and Los Angeles will be set free.” Its caption: “A ONCE GREAT AMERICAN CITY HAS BEEN OCCUPIED!”
A second TikTok, captioned “LOS ANGELES WOULD HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY OBLITERATED!”, features another post from Trump, in which he lashes out at “the very incompetent ‘Governor,’ Gavin Newscum, and ‘Mayor,’ Karen Bass.”
The governor’s satirical jabs come as he continues to clash with Trump’s decision to deploy National Guard troops and Marines to quell unrest in L.A., following Trump’s sweeping ICE raids.
“The federal government is sowing chaos so they can have an excuse to escalate,” Newsom posted Saturday. “That is not the way any civilized country behaves.”
Trump, never one to leave an insult unanswered, responded by suggesting border czar Tom Homan should arrest Newsom. In an interview, he dismissed the governor as “a nice guy” but “grossly incompetent. Everyone knows that.”
