Hamilton, the Broadway smash hit musical, has canceled all 2026 appearances at the Kennedy Center, an apparent jab at President Donald Trump after he took control of the performing arts center’s board of trustees.
“Our show simply cannot, in good conscience, participate and be a part of this new culture that is being imposed on the Kennedy Center,” the show’s producer, Jeffrey Seller, said in a statement.
The show, created by Broadway legend Lin-Manuel Miranda, was slated for Kennedy Center performances from March 3 to April 26, 2026. Tickets had not yet gone on sale, the Associated Press reported.
Shortly after assuming control of the Kennedy Center last month, Trump blasted the facility in a Truth Social post for featuring drag shows “specifically targeting” young people.
The new board of trustees is now made of all Trump appointees after the White House terminated several Biden-appointed board members last month.
