‘It’s a Little Heated!’ Fox News Stars Go At It Over Trump-Newsom Fracas

Fox News anchor Aishah Hasnie laughed when fellow Fox stars Juan Williams and Marc Thiessen got “a little heated” over President Donald Trump’s running feud with Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) amid protests in Los Angeles.

Trump and Newsom have been locked in a back-and-forth since Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents sparked protests in Los Angeles with a series of raids, after which Trump ordered the deployment of 4,000 National Guard soldiers without consulting the governor.

On Tuesday night’s edition of Fox News Channel’s Special Report, Williams and Thiessen traded blows after Hasnie asked if Newsom should extend “an invite” to Trump:

AISHAH HASNIE: Quick question for you, with just 30 seconds left here. The military has not gone in yet, okay? It hasn’t escalated to that point yet.

Shouldn’t the governor there, Gavin Newsom, you know, put out a hand and invite the president to come out there and have a conversation about this? I mean, it feels like these two men, I mean hate each other. Shouldn’t there be a conversation or at least an invite from the governor?

JUAN WILLIAMS: Well, I think they’ve had several conversations. I don’t know. I wish I was a fly on the wall around.

AISHAH HASNIE: We all do.

JUAN WILLIAMS: But they’ve have had conversations. I don’t know about hating, but I do think they are set each other, you know, kind of at heads, and I think you have a strong Democratic governor, and you have strong Republican president, and to my mind, you don’t want to put a situation where future Democratic presidents are sending troops into red states when they have a policy disagreement.

MARC THIESSEN: The red state governors would have called in the National Guard.

JUAN WILLIAMS: No, they– I don’t–.

MARC THIESSEN: It’s Gavin Newsom’s job to call in the National Guard.

JUAN WILLIAMS: He– that’s hi–.

MARC THIESSEN: The only reason Donald Trump, the only reason that Donald Trump is doing it is because Gavin Newsom isn’t doing his job.

JUAN WILLIAMS: And I think that Gavin Newsam is responsive– And I think that Gavin Newsom is responsive, Mark, to the voters and the voters of the state like Bass. If they are not doing their job, let the voters say it. Not the president impose his will!

MARC THIESSEN: Because he wanted to be a sanctuary state! He wants it to be a sanctuary state, and Trump is not going to let that happen!

AISHAH HASNIE: All right, panel, it’s a little heated! We will get back to you guys in just a few seconds.
