The Trump administration’s assault on alleged drug boats is heading west, as the U.S. military has bombed a vessel in the Pacific Ocean, Reuters reported Wednesday.

The bombing, which occurred off the coast of Colombia on Tuesday, is the eighth known assault on alleged drug-smuggling boats over the last two months — and the first in the Pacific.

Two or three people were killed in the strike, according to The New York Times, which cited an official who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

The controversial attacks have raised eyebrows among lawmakers on both sides of the political aisle.

Over the weekend, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) told Meet the Press moderator Kristen Welker that he believes the strikes are illegal.

“When you kill someone, if you’re not in a declared war, you really need to know someone’s name at least,” said Paul. “You have to accuse them of something. You have to present evidence. So all of these people have been blown up without any evidence of a crime.”
