Megyn Kelly Praises Republican for Calling Transgender Colleague ‘Mr.’ in Explosive Hearing: ‘Standing Up for WOMEN’
Independent media personality Megyn Kelly gushed over Rep. Keith Self (R-TX) after he referred to Rep. Sarah McBride (D-DE) as “Mr.” during a volatile House hearing earlier this week.
“God bless you @RepKeithSelf,” Kelly posted on X Wednesday. “We applaud you for standing up for WOMEN and BIOLOGICAL REALITY. We do not need to participate in this man McBride’s delusion.”
Kelly also jabbed at McBride, who reflected on the privilege of representing Delaware despite “how I’m treated by some colleagues” after the tumultuous hearing.

“You haven’t been treated poorly,” Kelly replied to McBride. “You’ve been called ‘Mister,’ which is accurate, and told to use the men’s room bc you are a man. We need not participate in your delusion. Standing up for truth is honorable & that’s what your GOP colleagues are doing.”
The astounding exchange happened Tuesday during a hearing by the Europe Subcommittee when Self recognized McBride, the first openly transgender person elected to Congress, as “Mr. McBride.”
McBride, who’s no stranger to Republican opposition to her preferred gender, responded, “Thank you, Madam Chair.”
As a result, Rep. Bill Keating (D-MA) took Self to task, shouting he was “out of order.”

SELF: I now recognize the representative from Delaware, Mr. McBride.
MCBRIDE: Thank you, Madam Chair, Ranking Member Keating. Also–
KEATING: Mr. Chairman, could you repeat your introduction again, please?
SELF: Yes, it’s a, it’s a, we have set the standard on the floor of the House, and I’m simply–
KEATING: What is that standard, Mr. Chairman? Would you repeat what you just said? You introduced a duly elected representative from the United States of America. Please.
SELF: I will. The representative from Delaware. Mr. McBride.
KEATING: Mr. Chairman, you are out of order! Mr. Chairman, have you no decency? I mean, I’ve come to know you a little bit, but this is not decent.
SELF: We will continue this hearing–
KEATING: You will not continue it with me unless you introduce a duly elected representative the right way!
SELF: [slams gavel] This hearing is adjourned.
The hearing was abruptly adjourned as a result of the exchange.
