Meteorologist ‘No Longer Employed’ At CBS-Affiliate One Day After Post Condemning Elon Musk for Having ‘Nazi Saluted’

Milwaukee meteorologist Sam Kuffel is out of a job at a CBS-affiliate television station one day after publicly branding Elon Musk’s gesture during Monday’s post-inauguration rally as a “Nazi” salute.
CBS 58 employees were informed Wednesday that Kuffel “is no longer employed” at the station.
“A search for a replacement is underway,” the station’s news director Jessie Garcia wrote to staffers in a memo obtained by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The newspaper shared that on Wednesday Kuffel’s bio and photo had been scrubbed from the station’s website.
The announcement that Kuffel had parted ways with the station came just one day after she posted a fiery Instagram critique of Musk’s gesture.
In the post, Kuffel wrote: “Dude Nazi saluted twice. TWICE. During the inauguration.” She added, “You fuck with this and this man, I don’t fuck with you. Full stop.” Kuffel then shared a clip from comedy show It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, where Rob McElhenney’s character said: “Screw that old bitch. He’s a Nazi.”
Conservative radio host Dan O’Donnell of 1030 WISN was among the first to point out the posts, accusing Kuffel of “spreading the lie that Elon Musk was giving a Nazi salute” and calling her comments “vulgar.”
As backlash began, Kuffel switched her Instagram account to private. She has not issued any public statements regarding her firing.
The debate over Musk’s gesture continues to rage on social media, Musk has dismissed the criticism as an overused political tactic.
“Everyone is Hitler’ attack is sooo tired,” he wrote.
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) then came to Musk’s defense, stating that the move was simply “an awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm, not a Nazi salute.”
