MSNBC’s Ayman Mohyeldin Commemorates October 7 With ‘Journalist’ — Who Reported Palestinian Peace Activists to Hamas
MSNBC’s Ayman Mohyeldin commemorated the anniversary of the October 7 terrorist attacks on Israel on Sunday night with a self-proclaimed “journalist” who once reported Palestinian peace activists to Hamas.
Back in 2020, Hind Khoudary raged against a Zoom call hosted by the Gaza Youth Committee and attended by both Palestinian and Israeli peace activists on Facebook, even going so far as to tag three Hamas officials — Salama Marouf, director of the Hamas Government Press Office, Eyad al-Bozom, spokesman for the Hamas-controlled Ministry of Interior, and senior Hamas official Ghazi Hamad — in order to alert them to the activists’ communications with Israelis.
Hamas officials arrested the activists on charges that they said were tantamount to treason and said that they had already been surveilling the activists before Khoudary informed on them.
Notably, Khoudary stood by her actions and did not express any regret over their imprisonment. In comments made to Agence France-Presse (AFP), Khoudary said “she did not regret her posts and did not oppose Aman’s arrest, while stressing that she was not responsible for his detention.”
“I didn’t make a mistake,” she told the AFP. “As a Palestinian, before I became a journalist, I am against normalization.”
“What I requested was a clear status of how these activities are happening from Gaza,” Khoudary said at the time. “I want all the normalization activities he is doing with Israel from Gaza to stop immediately because any joint activities, cooperation or dialogue with Israelis is unacceptable, even engaging with Israeli ‘peace activists.'”
Mohyeldin, an alum of the Qatari-run Al-Jazeera, introduced Khoudary on Sunday by explaining that “it is because of brave journalists on the ground that we, the public, are able to see what’s really happening” in Gaza and citing “Gaza’s government media office,” which is run by Hamas, a fact he did not disclose to his audience.
He concluded it by declaring that she had been “putting on a masterclass of bravery and courage for the rest of the world to see.”
Qatar, an authoritarian Islamist state, has long been a patron of Hamas.
