‘No F***ing Way!’ Chuck Schumer Loses It On Podcaster Over Trump Query
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) lost it when a progressive Gen Z podcaster served up a hypothetical question about Donald Trump’s takeover of Washington, D.C.’s police force.
Trump said this week that he will seek “long-term extensions” from Congress so he can maintain control of D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department beyond the 30 days permitted under the District of Columbia Home Rule Act.
“I think the Republicans in Congress will approve this pretty much unanimously,” Trump said. But Schumer told The Parnas Perspective that Democrats will do everything in their power to thwart the president’s plans.
Host Aaron Parnas asked, “If [Trump] went to Congress and said there is this crime emergency, we need the National Guard out there longer and need to take over Washington, D.C., would you grant it?”
“No f***ing way!” Schumer exclaimed. “We’ll fight him tooth and nail.”
Schumer continued, “He needs to get Congress to approve it, and not only are we not going to approve it, but there are some Republicans who don’t like it either.”
Schumer called Trump’s request “just a distraction” from the continued demand to release the files on convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.
“He’s afraid of Epstein. He’s afraid of all that, and we are not going to give up on Epstein,” Schumer said.
Trump, however, has insisted that nothing would prevent him from cracking down on crime and homelessness in the nation’s capital, despite some reports that crime is actually dropping.
Trump told reporters at the Kennedy Center on Wednesday, “Well, if it’s a national emergency, we can do it without Congress. But we expect to be before Congress very quickly. And again, we think the Democrats will not do anything to stop crime, but we think the Republicans will do it almost unanimously. So we’re going to need a crime bill. That we’re going to be putting in, and it’s going to pertain initially to DC. We’re going to use it as a very positive example.”
“You can’t have 30 days,” he continued. “We’re going to do this very quickly, but we’re going to want extensions. I don’t want to call a national emergency, but if I have to, I will.”
