Sean Hannity Does Stunning Spoken-Word Performance of Classic 70s Hit — With a Twist

Fox News host Sean Hannity wowed a Nashville audience with a spoken-word performance of a 70s hit worthy of William Shatner — and with a few twists thrown in.

This year’s “star-studded” Patriot Awards show is now streaming on Fox Nation, where fans can get a load of the comedy stylings of Sean Hannity as he trashes President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to an appreciative Grand Ole Opry House audience, mocks Rep. Adam Schiff’s (D-CA) name, and does an edgy chunk about ex-President Bill Clinton being — get this — a horndog!

But the big finish — flagged by Kat Abu — was a rendition of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” with, really, three twists.

It was spoken-word; Hannity dropped an incongruous reference to Calvary into a decidedly blasphemous song; and he followed the Jesus reference by altering the final lyric to suggest that Satan is a “liberal son of a bitch”:

The devil went down to Georgia. He was looking for a soul to steal. He was in a bind cuz he way behind. So he’s willing to make a deal. When he comes across this young man sawin’ on a fiddle, playing it hot. The devil. He jumps up on a hickory stump. He said, Boy, let me tell you what.

I guess you didn’t know it, but I’m a fiddle player too. And if you care to take a dare, I’ll make a bet with you. Now you play pretty good fiddle, boy. But give the devil a due. I bet this fiddle of gold against your soul. Because I think I’m better than you. Wait!

The boy says, My name’s Johnny. And it may be a sin, but I’m going to take your bet. You’re going to regret this. I’m the best has ever been.

Now, the way I ended the song is this way. And I will end with this. It ends with “And the devil bowed his head because he knew that he’d been beat.” We know he’d been beat at Calvary right?

And he laid that golden fiddle on the ground to Johnny’s feet. Johnny said, “Devil, come on back if you ever want to try again. I done told you once, you liberal son of a bitch, I’m the best that has ever been.”

He finished on a couple of “serious notes” :

All right. Two serious notes. I am looking at and I can’t possibly mention all my Fox colleagues, all the executives, all the people that allow us to talk to this country every night. And I want to do two things.

First, I want to say on behalf of all of us that are on the air, I want to thank each and every one of you in this room. All of you who watch, all that listen to our radio shows, all that come to our events, thank you for giving us the dreams, helping our dreams and life come true.

The second part is, this — what I love about this and this is uniquely Fox. This night is a Fox News night because we honor what makes America great are the men and women of this country, the people that get up play hard, pay their taxes, raise their kids, take their kids to church, and love this country and would never burn our flag and don’t take the side of terrorists.

You are all the great Americans. Tonight is about honoring them. I got a show to do in four minutes and 30 seconds. I love you Nashville. God bless you. God bless the heroes that we’re honoring tonight. God bless you all.ieve me.

Host Pete Hegseth followed up by saying “There you have it! Sean Hannity! Sean, if you ever want to give up radio, spoken word music might be in your future.”

Hannity was reliving an actual performance he gave with the actual Charlie Daniels Band years ago.
