Tom Homan Jokes Migrants ‘Picked the Wrong Person to Steal a Purse From’ After Kristi Noem Handbag Theft Bust

Border czar Tom Homan joked that the two migrants accused of swiping Homeland Security honcho Kristi Noem’s handbag — containing her DHS ID and $3,000 in cash — “picked the wrong person to steal a purse from” during a rare morning White House press briefing.

The jovial moment came as Homan responded to a question from the Daily Caller’s Reagan Reese, who asked for information about the alleged purse snatchers picked up by authorities over the weekend, specifically their criminal backgrounds

REAGAN REESE: Over the weekend, ICE arrested two illegal immigrants for allegedly stealing Secretary Noem’s purse over the weekend. What can you tell us about these individuals’ immigration and criminal history?

TOM HOMAN: I don’t have the criminal history, but I know one that stole the purse is supposedly in the country illegally. But umm… Picked the wrong person to steal a purse from. I mean, Secretary Noem is a strong, strong secretary. I know I’ve been talking about the success of the men and women of Border Patrol and ICE, but under her strong leadership, she is a game changer. So, I’m happy to work with her despite the media I’ve read that me and Kristi Noem have differences. Me and Kristi Noem are attached at the hip. There is no daylight between us. She is a strong secretary and
I’m glad she is in here. But again, that illegal alien picked the wrong person to steal a purse from, I’m telling you.”

Homan’s remarks came a day after two migrants were arrested for stealing the purse from a DC restaurant on Easter Sunday. It reportedly contained Noem’s driver’s license, passport, DHS access badge, checks, and around $3,000 in cash.

Noem explained she was carrying the cash because her family was in town for Easter and was treating them to a host of activities.
