‘Total Nutjob!’ Trump Unleashes On Zohran Mamdani — Says ‘The People of New York Are Crazy if They Go This Route’
President Donald Trump ramped up his attacks on New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani — calling him a “total nutjob.”
Speaking with reporters ahead of a trip to Florida on Tuesday, the president repeated his claim that the likely Democratic nominee for mayor of New York City is a Communist. (Mamdani identifies as a Democratic-Socialist and has denied he is a Communist.)
“I think he’s terrible,” Trump said. “He’s a Communist. The last thing we need is a Communist. I said, there will never be Socialism in the United States. No, we have a Communist, so I think it’s bad news.”
The president also reiterated his threat to withhold federal funds from New York City if Mamdani defies the Trump agenda.
“He has to come right to this building to get his money,” Trump said. “And don’t worry, he’s not going to run away with anything.”
The president wrapped up his attack on the prospective mayor by taking a shot at the city he famously called home for nearly his entire life.
“Frankly, I’ve heard he’s a total nut job!” Trump said. “I think the people of New York are crazy — if they go this route, I think they’re crazy.”
