Trump Accuses ‘Fake News’ Of Falsely Reporting He Wants To Name Ballroom After Himself

President Donald Trump accused the “fake news” of falsely reporting that he’s considering naming the planned White House ballroom after himself.

Since taking office for a second time, Trump has overseen massive changes to the physical features of the White House, including a gold-drenched Oval Office overhaul, a paved-over lawn in the Rose Garden, and now a major demolition of the East Wing to make way for a massive ballroom.

After assurances to the contrary, the entire East Wing has been demolished, and ABC News reported this week that administraion officials are already referring to the building as “The President Donald J. Trump Ballroom,” and that the name “will likely stick.”

Trump spoke to reporters briefly on the South Lawn of the White House as he departed for a trip to Maylasia on Friday night, during which he refuted the report and revealed that the cost could well balloon beyond the most recent $300 million pricetag:

REPORTER: (INAUDIBLE) raised for the ballroom?

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Well, we’ve raised a lot. We’ve raised over $350 million. It’s a beautiful room, a big room.

I don’t have any plan to call it after myself, that was fake news.

Probably gonna call it the Presidential Ballroom or something like that. We haven’t really thought about a name yet.

REPORTER: (INAUDIBLE)

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Well, it could even be more than that. Probably, possibly, assuming we can do that. You know, we’re building the ark, and maybe we use it for the ark.

REPORTER: (INAUDIBLE)

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: It looks like we might. You know, we’re going to be building the arc. And we’ve raised a lot of money for the ballroom, so maybe we’ll put — the arc is going to be incredible for Washington, D.C. So maybe we use it for the arc.
