Trump Lashes Out at CNN on Air Force One When Kaitlan Collins Displeases Him
President Donald Trump lashed out at CNN when he became displeased with anchor and White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins over the questions she was asking.
Trump returned from Canada Monday afternoon following his attendance at the G7 summit, during which hostilities between Iran and Israel continued to escalate. The president left the summit early and called for his national security team to convene in the Situation Room, but tore into French President Emmanuel Macron for suggesting he left to secure a “ceasefire.”
President Trump emerged from the press cabin on the trip home to take questions from reporters for about 12 minutes, during which Collins peppered him with questions about the response to Iran, beginning with his post slamming Macron.
At one point Trump lashed out at CNN as “fake news” when he decided he’d had enough questions from Collins:
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: How’s it going? It’s going well. Can everybody have a good time? Did you have a great time? How about you? I did. I always have a very good time. Bye Jennifer.
KAITLAN COLLINS: You just posted right before we took off that you’re not leaving because of a ceasefire. Why are you, can you elaborate?
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: We’re not looking for a ceasefire, I didn’t say it was going to be a cease fire… I think we’re looking for better than a ceasefire.
…
KAITLAN COLLINS: Are you sending the vice–? Do you plan to send the vice president and Steve Witkoff? There’s reports that you want to send a vice president in Steve Witkoff to meet with the Iranians and have discussions? Is that something you’re considering?
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Not sure yet. I may. Depends on what happens when I get back.
…
KAITLAN COLLINS: Can I ask you, because there’s been some skepticism, is there any guarantee that if the U.S. Did get involved militarily that a U. S. Bomb could destroy Iran’s nuclear program and facilities?
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: There’s no guarantees on everything or anything in life, you know that. Look at you, right? There’s no guarantee. But you’re saying a guarantee of what?
KAITLAN COLLINS: Do you think if the US got involved militarily it would actually wipe out Iran’s nuclear program or where’s your assessment of that?
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: I hope their program’s going to be wiped out long before then but they’re not going to have a nuclear weapon.
…
KAITLAN COLLINS: Can I ask you where I-
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Who else has a question other than CNN fake news?
But Collins was undeterred, and proceeded to continue questioning Trump moments later.
