Trump Opens Inauguration Rally By Announcing Pardons For ‘J6 Hostages’ — To Roar From Supporters

President Donald Trump on Monday continued to refer to January 6 rioters who are either defendants or already convicted as “hostages” and said that his first order of business when he walks into the Oval Office after the ceremony will be signing their pardons.

Speaking at the inauguration celebration at Capitol One Arena in Washington, D.C., Trump discussed his intent to sign executive orders right there on stage in his opening remarks.

But the first order of business he addressed after taking the stage, even before the families of hostages held by Hamas who were arrayed behind him, was to refer to the January 6 prisoners as hostages.

“Tonight I’m going to be signing on the J6 hostages pardons to get them out,” said Trump. “And as soon as I leave, I’m going to the Oval Office and will be signing pardons for a lot of people.”

TRUMP: So now the work begins. We won. We won. But now the work begins. We have to bring them home. And you know, tonight I’m going to be signing on the J-6 hostages pardons to get them out. And as soon as I leave, I’m going to the Oval Office and will be signing pardons for a lot of people. A lot of people.
