President Donald Trump slammed claims that he was involved in pushing “peace talks” between Iran and Israel as “HIGHLY FABRICATED FAKE NEWS” and warned Iran missed an opportunity when the regime turned down his nuclear deal.
Taking to Truth Social on Tuesday morning, the president wrote:
I have not reached out to Iran for “Peace Talks” in any way, shape, or form. This is just more HIGHLY FABRICATED, FAKE NEWS! If they want to talk, they know how to reach me. They should have taken the deal that was on the table – Would have saved a lot of lives!!!
The post came hours after he torched French President Emmanuel Macron for suggesting that his early exit from the G7 summit in Canada was related to ceasefire talks.
In a late-night post on Truth Social, Trump dismissed Macron’s remarks as “wrong,” adding: “He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington.”
Trump wrote:
Publicity seeking President Emmanuel Macron, of France, mistakenly said that I left the G7 Summit, in Canada, to go back to D.C. to work on a “cease fire” between Israel and Iran. Wrong! He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a Cease Fire. Much bigger than that. Whether purposely or not, Emmanuel always gets it wrong. Stay Tuned!
Macron had earlier told reporters that Trump was working on a diplomatic proposal between the two Middle Eastern powers, saying: “There is indeed an offer to meet and exchange. An offer was made especially to get a ceasefire and to then kick-start broader discussions.”
The contradiction adds a new layer of confusion to an already high-stakes moment. Trump’s early departure from the summit came as fighting between Iran and Israel continued into its fifth day. The current air war, sparked by Israeli strikes on Friday, has seen more than 220 deaths in Iran. Israel has reported 24 civilian casualties.
While Trump has maintained that he is pursuing a nuclear deal with Iran, his refusal to acknowledge ceasefire efforts at a moment of regional crisis raises questions about Washington’s diplomatic strategy.
