WATCH: Blue Angels Jet Roars Just Feet Above Crowd in Viral Beach Flyover

A U.S. Navy Blue Angels flyover is under review after a super low pass over a packed Florida beach during an air show that shocked spectators as umbrellas, chairs, and tents were sent flying.

Dramatic footage from Pensacola Beach on Wednesday captured beachgoers scrambling as the jet roared overhead during the annual “Breakfast with the Blues” flyover, with powerful engine thrust whipping up sand and scattering beach equipment across the shoreline in its wake.

The flyover marked the opening of Pensacola Beach Air Show week, an annual event that attracts up to 250,000 visitors to the Florida Gulf Coast.

“I’ve been coming for 10 years, and I’ve never seen a pass like that in my life,” beachgoer Ashley Korn told local station WEAR. “I literally thought we were going to be taken out by Blue Angels, but it was amazing.”

“It was awesome,” another spectator, Samantha Mayne, told the station.

Videos circulating online showed beach umbrellas collapsing, chairs tumbling across the sand, and spectators shielding themselves as the aircraft passed close overhead.

The Navy’s elite flight demonstration squadron acknowledged the incident, saying one aircraft made a lower-than-usual arrival.

“During an arrival maneuver, an aircraft flew lower than standard profiles, resulting in a disturbance on the beach that affected civilian chairs and umbrellas,” the Blue Angels said in a statement.

The squadron added: “The safety of our hometown community, spectators, and our pilots is our highest priority. Team leadership is reviewing the circumstances surrounding the maneuver and conducting a thorough safety review to ensure all operations adhere to strict Navy and FAA safety standards.”

The Blue Angels have performed demonstrations from Pensacola, their home base, for decades, with the annual beach flyover serving as one of the signature events leading into the multi-day air show.
